The PS3 exclusive psychological thriller Heavy Rain was a step into the future for video games, so a wack movie adaptation of Quantic Dream and Sony's interactive tale about The Origami Killer would really suck. Fortunately, it appears that the Heavy Rain movie is not headed in that direction. According to Coming SoonDavid Milch, creator of Deadwood and NYPD Blue, will pen the script after he's finished working on the first season of HBO'sLuck. Warner Bros. Pictures is fast-tracking the project, eager to capitalize on the game's high sales (1.5 million copies sold) and Milch's "incredible ability to transform intense and complex storylines into gripping, popular drama." Milch's writing talents are undeniable, but will a linear story be as compelling as an open game world with limitless choices and outcomes? What do you think?
