#1: THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO
Director: David Fincher
Stars: Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Robin Wright, Stellan Skarsgard, Joely Richardson
Release Date: December 21
Why we’re excited: Frankly, we’d watch a Pauly Shore biopic if it were directed by David Fincher. Though his last two films (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and The Social Network) have dealt with less-macabre topics than his previous gems (Seven, Zodiac), they’re still great. Rejoice, though, because he’s headed back to the dark side for the murder mystery The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Fincher’s blockbuster-in-the-making is based on the first of late Swedish author Stieg Larsson’s popular Millennium Trilogy. The mediocre Swedish film adaptations have shown everything from visceral rape to cold-blooded homicide, two things that Fincher will undoubtedly stage with Academy Award-worthy finesse. Another “Facebook movie” it most certainly wont be.
