It's a snowy and slushy Big Apple right now, but get your fill of meat and bean broth this weekend and let the great internal thaw commence.

Here in NYC, we just got another dumping of snow and there's even more on the way in the next couple of days. Sure it's nice for a minute, but by this weekend we'll all be tramping around in a brown slushy mess, cold, cranky, and looking to get warmed up. You need look no further, because this Sunday, January 30th from 4-8 p.m. is NYChiliFest 2011 at Chelsea Market. Thank the pagan picante gods, we've been saved.

Billed as the "ultimate celebration of chili, beer and all things spicy," a chili-tasting visa will cost you $30 ($35 day of) and get you a sampling of the best steaming hot chilis NYC's top restaurants (try Blue Ribbon Bakery, Fete Sau, Beer Table, and Vinegar Hill House for starters) have to offer. If that's not enough, Brooklyn Brewery is pairing four of the favorite chili compatible brews to wash it down ($40 advance/$45 day of) and there will be live bands (no word on if the music is chili-themed, but it will most likely pair up nicely). Head over to chilifest2011.com to get your tickets. There will of course be a celebrity panel judging who wins the 2011 Golden Chili Mug and $2,000, but we highly recommend you go figure it out for yourself. -Patrick Albertson
