Complex co-sign: Unless you’re faster than a speeding bullet (and we’re not talking about your bedroom embarrassments), superhero movies never feel all that real. Kick-Ass, based on the Mark Millar/John Romita, Jr. comic book, changes that with a swift kick from precocious Hit Girl (badass, 13-year-old, Moretz). A high school nerd (Johnson) puts together a costume and attempts to fight crime, with battered results. Brit director Matthew Vaughn does a great job of translating Millar’s comedy and R-rated violence. Hell, not even modern-day quality destroyer Nicolas Cage can ruin this one.
