Full of great performances and exciting action that still holds up today, Thirty Seconds Over Tokyo is everything that Michael Bay wanted 2001’s Pearl Harbor to be. Starring the brilliant Spencer Tracy, the 1944 production depicted the first retaliation of United States Air Forces—the bombing of five Japanese cities, including Tokyo—in response to Pearl Harbor. It’s one of those “America, fuck yeah!” flicks that should come equipped with tiny red-white-and-blue flags inside each DVD.
