#7: VINESSA SHAW AS EMMA NELSON IN 3:10 TO YUMA (2007)
True Grit is cool and all, but, for us, James Mangold’s 3:10 to Yuma remake remains Hollywood’s best modern-day western. The latter takes top honors for several reasons, the most important being its acknowledgement of male hormones. In a brief but memorable role, perennial C-list beauty Vinessa Shaw (we’ve loved her since Rodney Dangerfield’s Ladybugs in 1992) shows up as a seductress posted up inside a bar. It’s good to know that taverns in the Old West promised drunken hookups just like our favorite drinking holes. Though, Shaw is a dramatic upgrade from the trolls we wake up next to most Saturday mornings.
