Child actors suck. The vast majority, anyway. Nothing ruins a scene quicker than a lil' snot who's obviously acting—and getting paid several times our annual salary to fuck up a flick or series we were psyched to see. Fortunately, for all the many juvenile offenders, there are a handful of actors aged 16 or younger who do not suck. For example, Chloe Moretz, 13, and Kodi Smit-McPhee, 14, are superb in Let Me In, director Matt Reeves' remake of the 2008 Swedish horror film Let the Right One In. Her subtle, smart performance as a lonely, eternally youthful vampire who loathes her bloodlust, and his as a bullied loner and neighbor who has a crush on her, elevate the film far above typical Hollywood horror remake status. You'll be filled with fear once the opening credits roll, but you needn't feel any while paying the cost of admission.
