Usually "dysfunctional family comedies" are about as funny as a fart in a spacesuit—kinda funny, but the novelty wears off fast. Not the case with this, maybe the most groundbreaking sitcom of the decade: A lone voice of sanity (Jason Bateman) tries to keep his genetic loonie bin intact when his father goes to jail for embezzlement. The creative womb from which Will Arnett and Michael Cera sprang.

The hip-hop group Arrested Developments actually sued the show's producers in 2003. Yeah, because everyone was crushingly disappointed when the show turned out not to be a half hour of the "Mr. Wendel" video on a loop.
