DJ Mustard has played a major hand in leading the way of the new West Coast sound for the last two years, which really popped off with YG's My Crazy Life album this past March. Since then, he hasn't looked back. The So-Cal producer has since skyrocketed into the stratosphere of mainstream hip-hop success, working with everyone from the likes of budding Los Angeles songstress Tinashe to the polarizing pop of Justin Bieber.

Mustard’s new spin on the classic Los Angeles sound has drawn comparisons and criticisms to the hard-hitting, uplifting drum sound pioneered in the Bay Area. Mustard is quick to shrug off these accusations while adding that his own sound-jackers often inspire him to go even harder, innovating and perfecting his craft.

He recently stopped by our office to speak on everything from how he chooses guest features to working with Tinashe, Bieber, and what it’s like to DJ with Skrillex. Check out the interview above.
