50 Cent and Soulja Boy Both Lay Claim to Influencing Rappers to Do ‘Money Challenge’ Years Ago

“When I look back at some of the sh*t that I did, I be bugging out,” 50 captioned an old photo of himself spelling out “broke” with stacks of $100 bills.

The “Money Challenge” is the latest trend to take over social media, with various rappers sharing photos of themselves spelling out words in cash.

While YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Lil Durk, Future, and Yung Miami of the City Girls have taken to social media to seemingly participate in the challenge, 50 Cent and Soulja Boy are each directly claiming they did it first.

“When i look back at some of the shit that i did, I be bugging out,” 50 captioned an old photo of himself spelling out “BROKE” with stacks of $100 bills. “I see all these new versions i like all of them.”

Soulja Boy evidently begs to differ. Shortly after Fif shared his post, Big Draco took to Twitter to share a screenshot from 2016 where he’d spelled out his name in cash.

“I was the first rapper spelling with money LOL,” he wrote.

While it’s debatable who was the first rapper to spell out words in cash, YoungBoy and Lil Durk have recently given the trend some steam by sending out some cryptic messages amid their ongoing beef.

YoungBoy took to Instagram last week to promote his new Colors mixtape, while also writing in cash, “you n***as gone die” and “stay safe.”

Lil Durk opted to write, “Hurry y’all bitch azz up”:

Nick Cannon also got in on the fun, spelling out “IRS Watching” in toilet paper and warning rappers in his caption, “Y’all about to be in deep Sh!* #MoneyChallenge IRS is watching and you should be watching.”
