Young Thug's So Much Fun, which is technically the master of melody's debut studio album, does indeed boast enough fun and general excellence to suffice for an entire year or more. Thugger, however, has never been one for laurels resting and is thus fully intending to have a new project titled Punk out before 2019 closes up shop.
That's one of the takeaways from a new The Fader 20th Anniversary cover feature with Thugger, who also teased that what he considers "real rap" will make an appearance on the compellingly titled project, which was said during the July-conducted interview to be months away.
"It's most definitely touching music," he said. "It's music that the world is going to embrace. Punk means brave, not self centered, conscious. Very, very neglected, very misunderstood. Very patient, very authentic."
As for "real rap" qualifiers, Thugger explained that it's all about being genuine and showing some humanity.
"Let them know that you the same," he said. "I just want to open up. Let people know that I'm not just a rapper, I'm a human being. Let people know whatever they go through, I done been through or somebody done been through it. Those are the things that make people grow. People that want to commit suicide, you might give them another chance." Be El Be added that Punk will see also see a greater emphasis on enunciation.

Though there's no discussion in this new interview regarding the musical direction taken on Punk, it's worth pointing out that Thugger linked with blink-182's Travis Barker back in 2017. Mayyyybe we'll be getting some or all of the results of those sessions on Punk?
