SGJazz is a new band led by producer Dr. Dundiff with multi-instrumentalist Idris Frederick, Patrick Denney on bass, Anthony Keenan on guitar, Noah Reed on alto and tenor saxophone, and Reid Gross on trombone. Next month, August 30, the jazz supergroup will release their self-titled debut album via Jakarta Records (pre-order here), born of the five musicians' interweaving histories as collaborators. Ahead of that, we've got the understated, animated visuals for lead single "Last Sunset" courtesy of MC Blue Matters.
The new LP promises to be a mostly instrumental affair, but there will be a few vocal moments coming from J. Lamotta and K. Raydio. If "Last Sunset" is anything to go by, with its calming jazzy textures and rich, soulful melodies, then the new album will be a welcome addition to the current jazz scene.
