Young Thug performed at the Grammy awards Sunday night alongside Camila Cabello, but TMZ reports that he almost didn't make it to the ceremony. Not long before the show was set to start, a van Thugger was riding in was pulled over for a traffic violation in Los Angeles. One of the men in the van let police officers know he was in possession of a registered firearm, but the cops later found out it wasn't registered in California.

Everyone in the vehicle, including Young Thug, was lined up outside of a McDonald's. In a video obtained by TMZ, Thugger can be seen with his hands behind his back at one point, seemingly placed in cuffs. At another moment, his hands are above his head. Law enforcement sources close to the situation explained that the man with the firearm was arrested, while everyone else was eventually let go.

Thankfully, Thug was able to make it to the ceremony, delivering a memorable performance and even earning himself his first ever Grammy. He got the award for his work on Childish Gambino's "This Is America," which won Song of the Year. Young Thug was listed as a songwriter on the track alongside Donald Glover and producer Ludwig Göransson. "This Is America" also won Record of the Year, Best Music Video, and Best Rap/Sung Performance.

Last September, Thugger ran into some legal issues when he was arrested on felony drug charges. His arrest was linked to a 2017 incident in Brookhaven, Georgia, although he was later released in November. In other unfortunate Thug news, the rapper claimed last month that Lil Wayne is "trying to sue" him over his currently unreleased record Barter 7
