Memphis Bleek Claims He Told Kanye West Not to Hire a Sex Worker

Bleek claims he once told Kanye not to pay for sex during a trip to Nevada "back in the day."

In a truly enlightened world, there would be no stigma associated with sex work whatsoever. Instead of demonizing the industry, we would support workers by nationally regulating the practice to ensure safety and allow people to pursue their interests to their hearts' content without risking the interference of some uniformed fun-ruiner. But I—as I so often do—digress.

Speaking of places that actually handle sex work correctly, Nevada is a cool spot. In fact, according to Memphis Bleek, the state was the setting for a moment "back in the day" that ultimately resulted in Kanye West no longer fucking with him.

"I'm not related to that man," Bleek said on a recent episode of his podcast when it was suggested that he should reach out to West, who's presently in the middle of the most divisive era of his career. "I tried to tell him not to do something in Vegas one time and he told me I was bugging. Listen to this, this was back in the day."

Bleek then launched into a quick story about West and another unnamed friend purchasing services from a sex worker, which West said at the time was simply "nothing, just like taking a girl out to eat." According to Bleek, that was the end of his relationship with West. "I don't think he fucked with me after that," he said. "I told him no pay. I guess he wanted me to tell him to pay more. I couldn't do that."

It's worth noting that Bleek says this exchange occurred in Vegas. Work of this nature is only legal in certain counties (i.e. not the Vegas-housing Clark County), so Bleek is presumably using "Vegas" in a more general sense. If not, chalk it up to being a goddamn rock star.

All told, Bleek's story is just another reminder of a simpler time when West wasn't showing off signed MAGA gear and courting misinformation in the name of "free thinkers." Anyway, catch the full podcast episode below. The West talk begins around the 26-minute mark.
