Lil Uzi Vert Says He's 'Always Had a Vision' for His Influential Style

The new master of fashion talks threads in a rare new interview.

Much like Lil Uzi Vert, I've been making brave fashion decisions for practically my entire life. In an increasingly rare new interview with GQ, the God of Fuck's arguable Chosen One spoke briefly about how his hugely influential (but difficult to truly emulate) rock-tinged aesthetic came together.

"I always had a vision for my style," Uzi said in the new interview, published Monday. "But before, I didn't really get it. Even when I got money, my style wasn't all the way there yet. But with traveling the world and seeing different stuff, I get it now."

As DJ Drama and others explained to writer Samuel Hine, Uzi's success has allowed him to explore his passion for fashion at the highest possible level. Ultimately, Uzi's friend and Instagram snapper Rakamon Johnson added, the clothes are also informing the music. Though Uzi himself summarized the style as "dressed in the dark," there's clearly much more thought going into it than that.

Last week, Uzi teased new music by way of Young Thug's Instagram account. According to Generation Now co-founder Don Cannon, the follow-up to last year's Luv Is Rage 2 should be out before the curtain drops on 2018. Will this end up being that freestyle rock album Uzi teased during his classic Zane Lowe interview?
