Beyoncé fans (read: everyone) are in for a bit of disappointment if you were expecting to marvel in awe at Bey's assuredly breath-taking, trend-setting, jaw-dropping look at tonight's Met Gala. Turns out the global superstar will not be in attendance of the annual New York City party that showcases elaborate and innovative fashion.
ET, citing a source, reports that instead of showing up to pose for the cameras at the star-studded soirée, Bey will be taking a little pre-tour vacation thanks to her hubby. The On the Run II Tour kicks off in the U.K. in June, where Beyoncé and Jay Z will then take the show all through Europe before returning to the States in July for the first U.S. date in Cleveland.
With such a rigorous tour schedule ahead of her, it's nice that Queen Bey is taking some last-minute me-time to center herself before it's time to snatch all the wigs in existence. "Jay Z surprised her with a trip because he felt she needed to relax before her tour," the source told ET.
It is a let-down though for those of us who undoubtedly would have been waiting with baited breath to witness the arrival of Beyoncé in whatever iconic and revolutionary look she had planned to unveil.
It seems as though this was a last-minute decision, too. Peter Dundas of the DUNDAS fashion label had reportedly been working on a custom gown for Bey for weeks.
While we can only hope that the gown will eventually see the light of day at a future event, it looks like we'll have to rely on getting life from the other attendees this year. I'm looking at you, Rihanna.
