Tina Knowles-Lawson Thought Beyoncé’s Coachella Set Would Be 'Confusing' for White People

"I stand corrected."

Ask any Beyoncé fan, music aficionado, or logical thinking human being, and they would tell you that anything The Queen touches turns to gold. So it goes without saying that the expectation going into her Coachella performance this past weekend was that it was going to be iconic, and there’s no hyperbole in that statement. Unsurprisingly, Beychella lived up to expectations, even with a set that the singer’s mother was admittedly concerned would leave white audiences "confused."

On Monday, Tina Knowles-Lawson shared a quote from a glowing review of Beyoncé’s Coachella performance on Instagram, along with a reflection on how she was “afraid” by the possible reaction of a “predominantly white audience” to Bey’s set.
