It’s hard to believe that singer Selena Quintanilla died 23 years ago. On March 31, 1995, Selena was shot and killed by Yolanda Salvídar, former friend and manager of her South Texas-based boutique store Selena Etc.

On Saturday, her husband Chris Perez took to Instagram to share a photo of himself and the singer, as well as reflect on being appreciative of the people who make us realize that “love is REAL...love is UNCONDITIONAL...love NEVER DIES.”

"Although we all have our trials and tribulations that we have to go through in this life,” Perez wrote. "We MUST be thankful for the ones that we meet along the way...that made us realize...love is REAL...love is UNCONDITIONAL...love NEVER DIES. #MyCoco."

Selena’s family will celebrate her life and legacy with their annual Fiesta de la Flor festival in Corpus Christi, Texas on April 13 and 14. Back in January, ABC reportedly reached a deal for a family drama series inspired by the Queen of Tejano music. The singer's father, Abraham Quintanilla, Jr., and sister, Suzette Quintanilla Arriaga, will serve as producers while Scooter Braun will take over as executive producer.
