"Outstanding" is the latest example of 21's increasingly powerful talent of top-shelf guest appearances. As you already know, assuming you haven't intentionally avoided joy for the first four months of 2018, 21 perfected the approach with his spot on Post Malone's megahit "Rockstar" last September. That collab eventually topped the Billboard Hot 100 and resulted in one of the loudest singalongs at last weekend's Coachella opening.
21 was recently asked to elaborate on what he hoped to accomplish with his upcoming followup to his debut album Issa Album. Speaking with XXL, for a revealing cover story chat, 21 outlined his planned return to "gangsta" themes. "All that other music be cool," 21 explained. "I don't be knowing what the fans want 'cause it be like...they want, like, the 'Bank Account' music, but I don't know. I wanna get back on some gangsta shit 'cause I feel like everybody rap about money and cars. Like they say I rap about too much guns and shit, but that's what the hell be going on. That's what really be going on, like, in real life."
In the meantime, catch 21 on the road with Post Malone. The two are next set to hit Portland's Veterans Memorial Coliseum April 26.
