In a new interview, director Daps broke down the last-minute call that landed him the job and revealed the moment he realized Offset is "the fucking best dancer" on the planet.
According to Daps, who previously worked with Migos on "Bad and Boujee," he wasn't offered the directing position until a mere four days ahead of the shoot. "If Drake is available and Migos are too and the stars are aligning, that's it," Daps told Billboard Wednesday. "We're going."
Once the shoot began, the hilarity of the premise extended to Migos and Drake's very in-character vibes. As for Drake's look, Daps insists that was all his idea. The same goes for Offset's proven prowess as a dancer, which apparently came as a slight shock to Daps. "I knew he could move, but when he started popping and locking I was like, 'Oh, shit!'" he said, noting that he saw a clip of Offset doing "some kind of salsa dancing" prior to the "Walk It Talk It" shoot. "This is the first time I’ve seen him dance like this. Apparently Offset is the fucking best dancer in the whole world and no one knew about it."
Daps also revealed how Jamie Foxx got involved, as well as what he's learned after collaborating with Migos on multiple projects. Check out the full piece here.
Earlier this month, Migos blessed the Saturday Night Live stage with performances of Culture II cuts "Stir Fry" and "Narcos."
