Premiere: Royce da 5'9" Shares J. Cole-Directed Video for New Collab "Boblo Boat"

Royce's new album 'Book of Ryan' will arrive on May 4.

March has been a big month for Royce da 5'9". After unveiling the cover artwork and tracklist for his forthcoming solo album, Book of Ryan, he dropped "Boblo Boat," which includes the project's lone feature: J. Cole.

Keeping the momentum going, the Detroit rapper has now treated fans with the official video for "Boblo Boat." Pairing clips of Royce and Cole rapping at a carnival with scenes of teenagers on a memorable night out—along with a cameo from Cedric the Entertainer as a security guard—the visual builds on the nostalgic feel of the Cool & Dre and 808-Ray-produced single. Making things even more special, J. Cole takes a very rare step behind the camera as the video's director.

"Book of Ryan is my greatest piece of work," Royce told Complex last week. "I put everything I had into this album (spiritually, mentally, physically, and financially) and am excited to finally share it with the world."

After announcing the album's May 4 release date, Royce promised on Instagram, "I’m gonna take you guys on a journey... This album is everything I’ve been wanting to say but just couldn’t because I was either too drunk or too young to put it into words... All the hurt, all the pain and all the good times is what made me who I am.

"I’ve learned that timing is everything, patience is everything and family is everything," he continued. "From this point forward, I’m letting God take the wheel... All the conversations in regards to my name is about to shift... I’m here to be great."
