Quavo on the ‘XXL’ Freshman List: ‘[They] Didn’t Pick Migos Either!’

Funkmaster Flex also had some harsh words for the Freshman list.

The XXL Freshman list can be a coveted spot for up-and-coming rappers. But it's long been called out for being off-the-mark for honoring unfavored rhymers while missing out on fan favorites in the culture.

Nav recently shared harsh words against the magazine after never being named in the annual list. Now, Funkmaster Flex and Quavo are joining in to back him up.

"Don’t Trip @beatsbynav @XXL  Didn’t Pick Migos Either!!!! 🖕🏾Freshman List," read a tweet from the Migos' frontman.

Throughout the history of the list, the XXL Freshman Class does not consider groups and artists who already have a major label debut album out. Quavo is likely referring to their 2013-2014 run, when Offset was locked up, but they maintained a following with buzzing records like "Versace" and "Fight Night."

As for Funk Flex, he went on his radio show to share his ridicule of the list. Nav originally captured the moment on his Instagram story, which was later captured by VladTV (above).

"XXL, don’t get tight, don’t get tight with me. Don’t get tight. Easy, easy. You know that list is trash," says the DJ before dropping his famous bomb sound.

Nav has been on a tirade against XXL by dropping a diss track against them, "Freshman List," where he confirms that he "wouldn’t show up for the freshman list." He's even slated to tour Freshman Tour, which will undoubtedly throw a few more jabs towards the mag. In the meantime, he went to Instagram to share how he really feels.

"FUCK @XXL YOUR MAGAZINE IS TRASH🚮🚮SORRY WEBSITE 😂😂. To my fellow artists—we shouldn’t look to a magazine for validation or to tell us if we 'hot or not,' especially one that hasn't been credible for 10 years @xxl. Make music for yourself and your fans. I would never show up for the Freshman List cuz I don't need their approval 😈," read the post. Ouch.
