Comprised of four multi-instrumentalists, Detroit-based band Liquid Monk set the wheels in motion for 2018 with new stepper "Come Down"—which is a spaced-out reworking of Anderson. Paak's single of the same name from 2016. Sprinkled with twinkling, electronic layers—gone are the funk-filled licks of the original, replaced with infectious synth work that rises, before suddenly crashing into a mixture of percussion and warbled sound.

Liquid Monk revealed that the idea for the record came from plans for a live remix to the acapella of "Come Down", telling Complex: "Austin (Apropos) sent us a message on Instagram about wanting to collaborate so we listened to his music and his voice had an amazing energy to it. We thought it would be great to release an actual cover with him on the vocal, and it immediately took on a life of its own."
