Fergie Apologizes for National Anthem Performance: 'I Tried My Best'

On the bright side, Fergie's artistic risk might be more memorable than the All-Star Game itself.

It’s been hard to get through this President’s Day without thinking about Fergie’s cringeworthy NBA All-Star Game performance of the national anthem Sunday night. If you haven't heard it, consider yourself lucky. But if you wanna hear it anyway, listen below.

People on the internet roasted Fergie during the performance, while NBA All-Stars on the court and celebrities in the stands tried not to laugh, but now Fergie Ferg is weighing in on the performance.

"I've always been honored and proud to perform the national anthem and last night I wanted to try something special for the NBA,” Fergie told TMZ. “I'm a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn't strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best."

Damn. Sometimes trying your best really isn’t good enough. Her swerve from Mariah Carey’s usual “fuck the haters” response is admirable though, and she’s taking the failure like an all-star herself because remember, big girls don’t cry.

Sure our ears suffered for two minutes, but on the bright side we got some fantastic tweets and memes out of the performance. Plus, it’s definitely a “Star-Spangled Banner” rendition that none of us, especially Draymond Green, will ever forget.
