DJ Khaled’s soon-to-be brother-in-law was shot to death in a Bronx apartment on Sunday. According to the New York Daily News, Jonathan Tuck, 25, was trying to buy marijuana when he was shot in the face around 9:15 p.m. Nicole Tuck is Khaled’s fiancée and the mother of his son; the victim was her younger brother and a former defensive end for the Bronx Colts. Police believe Tuck argued with the shooter, but they have not determined if the argument was related to the alleged weed deal.

One of Tuck’s friends, Brandon Davis, describes him as “a good guy,” and chalks the tragedy up to being “in the wrong place at the wrong time.” Davis said that he and Tuck were supposed to watch the Super Bowl together. Davis, a football coach and godfather to Jonathan's 1-year-old daughter, met Tuck back in 2011 during his football days. “All I can think about is I'm sitting here celebrating football and my friend is across town dying," Davis said.

Tuck’s girlfriend called Davis at 4 a.m. on Monday to relay the devastating news. He also said Tuck and sister Nicole were close, but didn’t offer a comment as to how she or DJ Khaled were faring with the loss. One anonymous family member said, “We’re hurting. We’re grieving. We’re devastated.” A 34-year-old man has been taken into police custody for questioning, but as of Monday, no charges had been filed.
