St. Vincent just announced her Fear the Future tour in support of her excellent 2017 record, Masseduction, and the veteran singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist is throwing a wrinkle into her latest jaunt around the United States: she's bringing her aunt and uncle with her.

Tuck and Patti are a jazz duo comprised of William Charles "Tuck" Andress (uncle of St. Vincent, born Annie Clark) and Patricia "Patti" Cathcart Andress. They put out their first record in 1988, and have been highly influential in Clark's development as a musician.

She told Pitchfork in 2014 that her first performance was as a 15 year old when she played Jimi Hendrix's "The Wind Cries Marry" in Dallas, performing Jimi Hendrix's "The Wind Crimes Mary" with Patti & Tuck in attendance. Clark also revealed to Westword in 2010 that she used to serve as the band's tour manager while still a teenager.

Patti & Tuck also played on Masseduction, and Clark told Pitchfork how much it meant to have them be a part of her record:

They taught me the value of the phrase, “That wasn’t good enough.” This was the first time that the heart of it all was worthy enough to include them. They’re virtuosic to the nth degree, but I wanted to hear Tuck play with distortion, and I wanted to hear Patti just wail in some dirty, dirge-y fashion, and I got them to do those things. We had the best time. It was a little family reunion.

St. Vincent has previously toured with artists ranging from David Byrne to Holly Herndon to The Black Keys, so she's had plenty of experience working across the genre spectrum.
