Ski Mask The Slump God Teases New Song Referencing H&M Controversy

The South Florida rapper gets topical on his latest snippet.

Ski Mask the Slump God is the latest artist to address H&M's "Coolest Monkey in the Jungle" sweatshirt controversy, and it sounds like he's doing so in his trademark off-the-wall style. The speedy South Florida rapper posted a video on Twitter of him in the studio previewing a new track and wrote "#THECOOLESTMONKEYINTHEJUNGLE" in the post.

The track is vintage Ski Mask, with the MC's bars barreling out over squealing synths reminiscent of a John Carpenter soundtrack. He raps, "I'm the coolest monkey in the jungle/I'm the coolest monkey in the jungle/Sauce that you had you done fumbled/Tell the white supremacist to lick my big toe."

H&M was heavily in criticized in early January for using a young black boy to promote a hoodie that read "Coolest Monkey in the Jungle." Musicians like The Weeknd and G-Eazy cut ties with the brand, and many artists offered their own reimaginings of the work, flipping the message to be one of empowerment and altering the text on the sweatshirt.

Ski Mask has been prolific lately, closing 2017 and opening 2018 with new tracks while promising a new mixtape back in December. He also released music with artists like Timbaland, A$AP Ferg, Offset, and Lil Yachty last year. Ski Mask has a penchant for teasing tracks on Twitter, and we're still waiting to hear the final version of his Timbaland collab "RRRUNNN!"
