Born in Munich, Germany, but now based in London, tech-house producer Tian Karl's cuts are usually known for their squelchy house grooves and brisk, snappy percussion. However, on his latest outing, "Mercury", Karl's gotten much darker. With a powerful, driving 4x4 kickdrum forming the track's backbone, DJ Karl adds to that a pitch black industrial menace that glowers through the track before a haunting breakdown makes way for a few glimmers of melody.
