I can't believe I'm writing this.

But I also can't believe the President of the United States is currently planning and promoting (and rescheduling) something called the Fake News Awards, so I guess the bar has reached a new level. Anyway, here we go...

Producer/DJ Moby sat down with a local radio affiliate in Kentucky called WFPK this week and shared a wild story about CIA agents contacting him to help spread information about Donald Trump's tangled relationship with Russian officials.

Apparently, Moby had developed personal friendships with active and former CIA agents in the intelligence community over the course of his long career. So some of them reached out to him a year ago. He says they wanted help spreading the word about Trump's secret dealings with Russia. Specifically, they wanted Moby to use his large social media audience to help communicate the information.

"They were like, 'This is the Manchurian Candidate, like [Putin] has a Russian agent as the President of the United States,'" he says. "So they passed on some information to me and they said, 'Look, you have more of a social media following than any of us do, can you please post some of these things just in a way that … sort of put it out there.'"

Moby went on to say, "It’s really disturbing and it’s going to get quite a lot darker. Like the depths of the Trump family in business and their involvement with organized crime, sponsored terrorism, Russian oligarchs, it’s really dark. I guess we should all, like, fasten our seat belts and hold on."

If you look back at Moby's social media posts from last February, you can see he did share a lot of the information—and some of it ended up being true.

The wildest part about the whole thing is that Moby doesn't sound insane during the interview. He comes across very calm, measured, and intelligent about the whole situation—even if the things he's saying hold big implications about the state of our country.

This feels a lot different than other stories of aging stars getting weird and paranoid as the years pass. Is Moby telling it as it is? Listen to the interview below (beginning at the 8:00 mark) and decide for yourself.
