Lil Xan Says He's Eventually Going to Change His Name

Xan is planning on going by his real name down the line.

When we talked to Lil Xan last month, the conversation centered around change. There's a big difference between the 21-year-old rapper's old material and the things he's making now, but he believes this is all part of his evolution as a person.

"The whole thing is like a journey," Xan said of the changes from his early songs to now. "It’s not like, ‘Oh, Xan made a song a long time ago embracing Xanax, he’s a fucking liar.’ They can see my journey unfold. That many months ago I was going through that and that’s how things were up until “Betrayed.’ Now they can see where it started, what happened, and where I am now. I thought maybe I should delete those tracks, but then I was like, 'I should leave them up for that purpose solely.' It’s perfect. People can change. Look at my old stuff, I was embracing all of it, and look at how far I came."

Xan's content may be changing, but when we asked him about his controversial name, he didn't have any plans to switch it any time soon. “I always contemplated whether I’d have to change it, but I learned you don’t have to if the formula is working—it’s great. It’s beautiful. The only thing that might change is I might drop the Lil.”

In a new interview with TMZ, however, Xan—real name: Diego Leanos—says he's considering a name change down the line. "I thought about changing my name to Diego. For right now we're gonna stay Lil Xan. Later down the road, yeah, I'll change it to Diego."

A recent tweet backs this up:

One day my rap name just gonna be Diego but that's later on I'm still xan baby 💔
