J.I.D Shares Throwback Freestyle Over Eminem's "My Name Is" Instrumental

The Atlanta rapper celebrated the song's 19 year anniversary by dropping an old freestyle.

Exactly 19 years ago, Eminem dropped "My Name Is" a month before the release of his major-label debut album The Slim Shady LP. The cartoony Dr. Dre-produced single was one of Eminem's first hits and it helped introduced a whole group of new listeners to his twisted, often controversial style.

Looking back, Dreamville rapper J.I.D dropped an old "lost freestyle" over the classic instrumental Thursday night. Remaining relatively faithful to the flow of Eminem's original, a young J.I.D flashes some early glimpses at the brilliant lyricism that made his 2017 album The Never Story so special.
