Chance the Rapper seems like a pretty mellow guy, but he does like to give himself props every now and then. On a recent Instagram Live stream, the 24-year old rapper showed that he liked to treat himself by flexing some of the gear he packed in his suitcase. One piece was a Supreme x Champion jacket, which prompted him to make a fairly controversial statement:

"Everybody knows I brought Supreme back. I don't talk about it all day because I'm not that type of dude, but ... I did bring Champion back. So, all of these lame n****s rockin' Champion, y'all should thank me for making you unlame."

Unsurprisingly, a lot of people were flabbergasted by the claim.

As many others have pointed out, Chance has never exactly been known for rocking Supreme heavily. In fact, Twitter users countered that the very pro-Supreme Tyler, the Creator deserved more credit if anything. There's also the question of if Supreme has ever really fallen off. It is now an undeniably mainstream brand after being popular with a niche crowd since its inception back in 1994.

Chance does rock Champion a little more regularly, but it is kind of hard to give him credit for bringing back the brand. It's been given tons of recent exposure in the fashion space thanks to collaborative projects with brands like Vetements, Bape, and Supreme. Chance says he brought Supreme and Champion back, but both brands never really left.
