Fresh off his first gold record, Smokepurpp just capped his breakout year with "Phone," a collaboration with another 2017 up-and-comer, Nav. The blown out production from FKi 1st and Purpp himself plays to both artists' strengths, letting them trade playfully Auto-Tuned verses over trap hi-hats and enough bass to blow out car speakers.

Smokepurpp's Deadstar cut "Audi" bagged an RIAA gold certification this month, marking certified units in excess of 500,000. The track first dropped in May ahead of the September release of Smokepurpp's 18-track debut commercial tape Deadstar.
"Smokepurpp makes music because he don't give a fuck," Smokepurpp explained to Pigeons & Planes in October. "A Smokepurpp show is, like, chaos. That's why people should come. And if you wanna take out your anger, just go to a Smokepurpp show and just punch somebody." Sounds good.
Deadstar was followed quickly by a series of standalone drops, including the Nova-produced "Can't Pick Up" and the Digital Nas-helmed "Jump." Purpp also shared his Lil Peep (RIP) collab "Nobody," featuring production from Metro Boomin.
XO's Nav, meanwhile, linked with Lil Uzi Vert back in November for the collab "Wanted You." The two previously brought their worlds together in the Virgil Abloh-directed video for Uzi's smash hit "XO Tour Llif3," which also featured a cameo from XO co-founder The Weeknd.
