Rihanna's cousin has been fatally shot in Barbados. The Anti singer shared multiple pictures of her cousin on her Instagram account Tuesday night and called for an end to gun violence. "Can't believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms," Rihanna said. "Never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body."

The Guardian pointed out that there was a shooting victim identified as 21-year-old Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne by local news outlets. In her Instagram post, Rihanna tagged @merka_95 but did not mention his name. An investigation is ongoing.

Tavon was reportedly walking by a track near his home in St. Michael around 7 p.m. local time when he was shot "multiple times." The unidentified suspect fled the scene.

Following Rihanna's tribute post, fans shared messages of support on Twitter:

Earlier this month, Rihanna attended the renaming ceremony of St. Michael's Westbury New Road, the street where she grew up. The road was renamed Rihanna Drive at the behest of the Barbados Ministry of Tourism. "WESTBURY is more than a community, we're family!!!" Rihanna said of the honor. "Thank you for all that you've poured into my life and the woman I am! It takes a village, and I'm glad my village was you."
