More Details Emerge in 6ix9ine Child Sex Video Case

"I was doing it for my image," the rapper told police.

Some dogged reporting from Jezebel has uncovered that rapper 6ix9ine (formerly known as Tekashi69) has been less-than-forthright in recent comments about a 2015 incident where he pleaded guilty to use of a child in a sexual performance.

6ix9ine, real name Daniel Hernandez, recounted his version of the incident to DJ Akademiks in a November interview, not long after Genius reported that the rapper had admitted his guilt, though they didn't provide any details.

In 6ix9ine's version of events, he went to an apartment in Harlem and other men there invited a girl over. In his words, "Shit got crazy," and he uploaded the resulting videos to social media. He also claimed that the girl told him she was 19, though she was actually 13. He also wrongly said the incident, which happened in 2015, occurred "three or four" years ago, and said he was 17 when it happened.

However, Jezebelobtained a copy of a criminal complaint against the rapper, which includes his own statement to police (you can read it here). The complaint shows that 6ix9ine was 18 at the time, and that he never asked the girl's age—instead, he just "assumed" she was older than 13 because of "the way she was asking" about his age.

The complaint also describes a video where 6ix9ine "stands behind the child making a thrusting motion with his pelvis and smacking her on her buttocks" while she's nude and performing oral sex on another man. This is despite his avowal to Akademiks that he "didn't have no sexual contact with the girl."

6ix9ine also says that his "scumbag" persona is "just for shock value." When asked about the incident, he says, "I was doing it for my image."

The plea agreement that the rapper entered into, newly disclosed by Jezebel (view it here), shows that sentencing was delayed for two years, and that if 6ix9ine fulfilled a number of conditions, he would serve three years of probation. If not, he could get one to three years behind bars. Neither 6ix9ine, his management, nor his label have responded to Jezebel's requests for comment.
