Following her well-received debut single, "River Of Tears"—which dropped back in February—Peckham-born singer/songwriter Aadae is preparing for the release of her debut EP, Agape (due out November 10). The new five-track collection comes packed full of full-bodied, Afrobeats-influenced soul music that's teeming with colour and passion at every turn. Even the so-called intro track immerses you in a room filled with music.

Don't think, for a second, you can figure out her influences by ear though. Aadae's musical foundation, she says, comes from influences as disparate and far-reaching as Yoruba gospel, reggae, '90s Afro-juju, '70s afrobeats, UK funky, M.I.A, Santigold, Little Dragon and Abba. "I describe my sound as a pop-lover's take on the classic afrobeat form," Aadae says. "It was always important to me that my music told my story. Whatever I do has to represent my British upbringing, as well as my Nigerian heritage."
