Jelani Aryeh is one of the most exciting new talents to emerge this year. The teenager from the suburbs of San Diego released an impressively varied EP called Suburban Destinesia earlier this year, a post-Gambino, post-Tyler blend of rap, pop, R&B, and indie rock influences.

Today Jelani's back with a new song, his first solo release since the EP, and he tells us, "'Lavender Love' came about when I was staring at my lavender colored bathroom walls one morning and I fell in love with the color. I knew I wanted to work it into a song, and had also wanted to write a love song for a while but had never gotten around to it."

"'Lavender Love' reflects on the weight that another person can have in your life and what can happen when that relationship begins to crumble," he adds. "I wanted to write something a little more universal, unlike most of my other songs, and knew that I wanted it to carry a somber and nostalgic tone. Although some of the lines verses sound pretty specific, I think the sentiment is something that most people can relate to in some capacity overall."

Jelani is about to graduate high school and start living on his own, and there's more music on the way from the talented young artist. Listen to "Lavender Love" now and learn more about him, his music, and his collective Raised By The Internet here. Jelani also asked me to add one thing at the bottom of the post: RIP Lil Peep.
