If there’s one good thing about Toronto’s harsh winters, it’s that they force the city’s incredible glut of talent to stay indoors and create music. Naturally, what results from this creative incubation is dope art that compliments the cold, hazy, and muted backdrop outdoors.

This thankfully means the gloomiest of days often give birth to incredibly rich and moody tracks from singers like Jay Glavany. The WOE affiliated, Toronto-based musician may have been absent from the scene for quite some time, but judging from his most recent release, the hibernation was well worth the wait.

Earlier this month, Jay dropped the incredibly soulful mini-album, Let’s Get Lost. The six-track project is a brilliant and unexpected debut, filled with melancholic vibes and highlighted by smokey, hypnotic vocals. Glavany produced and wrote all of the new material with instrumental assists from Adam P and Josh Service. Meanwhile, Benita and Khadijah Lopez provide the sole features on tracks “Body Language” and “Come Save Me”.

Speaking on the project, Glavany says Let’s Get Lost was built to evoke real emotion from the listener. “I love to create my music from the ground up. I would consider my sound soothing, groovy and sensual with a kick, and smooth vocals to tie it all together. My goal is to make sure my listeners are able to think back to a specific moment or see an alternate reality while listening to my music.”

You can listen to Let’s Get Lost on all major streaming platforms. You can also stream it here below via SoundCloud.
