Just days after Azealia Banks called out RZA for his recollection of the 2016 Russell Crowe incident, RZA’s publicist is coming to his defense.

During an interview on The Breakfast Club earlier this week promoting Wu-Tang Clan’s new album, The Saga Continues, RZA addressed the altercation between Crowe and Banks. Banks insisted that Crowe assaulted her – both verbally and physically. She also claimed Crowe used the N-word as he kicked her out of his hotel party in Los Angeles.

However, RZA saw something entirely different, and doubled down on his claims. "He spit at her. I saw that," he admits. "He didn’t spit on her. It was like, it almost got on me."

Banks, who wasn’t pleased about RZA talking about her in the media, responded on Snapchat.

Now, in an attempt to put the incident behind RZA, his publicist has released a statement.

"The derogatory posts against my client RZA by Azealia Banks is unwarranted and beyond that — unbecoming," the publicist writes. "RZA, from the moment he met Ms. Banks, bet on her to win.  So much so that when others felt she would be too much trouble to work with on the film Love Beats Rhyme, he disregarded what had been said and looked beyond her well documented controversies moving forward with securing her as his lead."

His publicist then provided additional details of Crowe’s private party, writing about the disappointment to see Banks pull the race card.

"Her introduction to Russell Crowe at his private party resulted in Banks going on a salacious mission to disparage him and RZA," the publicist writes. "Playing the race card and anything else she could."

Despite all of this, his publicist confirms that RZA will continue supporting Banks’ career.

"I represent RZA and found it necessary to state he would never have done what he has in support of Ms. Banks to put her in a position to be harmed, ridiculed, demeaned, or treated in an inhumane way.  And still, he continues to support her," the publicist writes.

In conclusion, RZA is keeping his head high and will not reveal more details about the incident at this time. Even as Banks continues to slander him, RZA wishes her the best.

"As Ms. Banks reputation precedes her, RZA hasn’t and does not want to further embarrass Banks and stands by not revealing all of the details at this time.  In fact, after the incident, concerned about her welfare, RZA made sure she made it back to her hotel safely."
