In the run-up to the release of Macklemore's upcoming album Gemini, the Seattle-based rapper is on a heavy promo run. Earlier today, he took us through his sneaker collection on Complex Closets, and now we get to hear him drop some rhymes for the latest installment of Funk Flex's freestyle series.

Instead of going for something a bit tougher, ala the "Banned From TV" instrumental Vic Mensa spit over, Macklemore takes it back to Jay Z's The Black Album, choosing to get witty with it over the Kanye West-produced "Lucifer." During his almost four-minute session, Macklemore touches on the idea of the underground scene being his "ceiling" and never thinking he'd touch a million to throwing some shade at those who doubted him years back.

Flex loved Macklemore bigging up soccer moms, but outside of getting his smile on in what one commenter called the "cleanest freestyle" they've heard in a while, Mack does get a dope batch of lines in comparing rappers to NBA players that you should check out (it starts around 2:28).

Macklemore's Gemini is available Sept. 22.
