When it comes to authentic street rappers, 21 Savage is one in a long lineage who you wouldn’t consider soft. But in 21’s eyes, there have been a few guys lately who aren’t living up to the edgy and grimy imagery the A is known for, so he felt the need to address them.

In a video that’s been circulating online, 21 issues an apology to the world about the influx of “soft ass n***as” coming out of his city. “Now I know we produce some soft ass n***as, but bare with us, we’re going to get through this storm guys,” he says.

“I just want you guys to know that there’s some real n***as left,” he continues. “Real n***as are coming back in style so hold tight we are going to take this thing back man.”

Now, who could he be referring to? Speculators are saying his comments might be in reference to Yung Joc, who caused another viral moment (remember when he got roasted for that hairstyle?) when photos of him wearing a dress surfaced. Joc would later explain it’s all part of his “internet manipulation” scheme (whatever that means) to get people to tune into his television appearances. He says he’ll be appearing on four VH1 series: Scared Famous, Leave It to Stevie, Hip Hop Squares, and Love & Hip Hop. That’s a lot of work.

Furthermore, Joc alludes to the fact that he got a big payout for wearing the dress. So who’s really winning in this scenario? Him or the haters?

21 hasn’t followed up with an explanation as to why he called out these rappers, but best believe someone—maybe even Joc—will take it the wrong way and respond in a timely fashion.
