With high profile instrumentals for Kali Uchis, Mabel, Rejjie Snow and more under their belt, production outfit and band Gotts Street Park are stepping into the limelight with the video for their new single "Love In Bad Company". The video is the second single to be taken from their debut EP Volume One (following the April release of "This World" with newcomer Benny Mails) and features another emerging talent, Dielle. Inspired by the DIY ethos of soul music and early hip-hop, Gotts Street Park perform and record everything live. "Love In Bad Company" continues that theme with a guitar- and piano-led R&B slow jam, perfectly suited to Dielle's painful story of betrayal and the stark, late-night visuals.
"The dark rainy drives home and empty back streets have always felt in some ways romantically linked to the old gangster films, and soul, jazz and hip-hop records we grew up inspired by," the band explained to Complex via email. "We wanted to avoid a narrative that detracts from the music. We like the idea that unobtrusive visuals can compliment sound in the same way that a sparse score can enhance a scene."
