Sean Paul has more to say about Drake's dancehall influences. In a recent interview with Metro at BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend 2017 festival, Paul had kind words for Drake's business relationships in Jamaica, but reiterated his previous criticism of the 6 God's lack of "accolades" toward dancehall at large.

"I think at the time when it was popping off, it would have been good for him to actually put accolades towards the whole culture," Paul said of Drake's "One Dance" success. "He's friendly with a few people in the business in Jamaica and that's good, I love it. But if he had given more accolades when he was actually making it and said 'this is the music I love,' it would have been cool." Paul also mentioned Ed Sheeran, drawing the distinction that Sheeran has "one song that is huge," while Drake filled an entire album with dancehall influences.

In a separate interview this week with Capital Xtra, Paul expanded on his criticism. "Dancehall doesn't have a place in Grammys still," he said. "We're under Reggae and it's a bit weird."

Previously, Paul also criticized Justin Bieber and additional artists in an interview with the Guardian. "It is a sore point when people like Drake or Bieber or other artists come and do dancehall-orientated music but don't credit where dancehall came from and they don't necessarily understand it," he said in September 2016. Paul added that he knows artists in Jamaica who also don't like Major Lazer because they believe they're doing "the same thing that Drake and Kanye did."
