Carti's self-titled project finally dropped in April, and "Magnolia" has won its way into the hearts of millions. But his come-up is still shrouded in mystery, and a new track that popped up, "We So Proud of Him," fits right into the disjointed pattern.
Snippets of the song have been floating around amongst Carti fans for some time, and several efforts have been made to mash those parts together into a more coherent track. Until now, the song has been referred to by several different names, including "Telly" and "Proud of Him," and it appears this latest version leans more toward the latter alias. Now that a high quality version of the track has surfaced, the detective work and patch jobs are no longer necessary.
The question at the center of all this is who's responsible? The 6Silky & Based TJ instrumental surfaced early in 2016, and Silky has been excitedly retweeting chatter about the song on his Twitter feed, so the drop doesn't seem like a complete accident. But the only chatter on Carti's end is a reference recently added to his Instagram bio, with a link that accompanies the name simply leading back to his mixtape.
