Listen to Anik Khan's New 'Kites' EP

The long-awaited project from multi-talented Queens artist Anik Khan has arrived.

Anik Khan's new Kites project begins with a song built around a sample from a Bollywood film composer and ends with a powerful track about immigration that urges us to all "come together, regardless of race or religious affiliation."

Clearly, the Bengali-born, Queens-based artist isn't shying away from his cultural background. But he isn't shoving it down our throats, either. Full of intoxicating melodies and upbeat, dance floor-ready rhythms, this is an accessible, immediately enjoyable project that manages to pull plenty of pop appeal out of its unique influences—an impressive feat.

The politically-conscious messages and deep personal anecdotes are there, but they're presented in an upbeat, refreshing way that'll have you dancing around your house while he tells his story. A completely unique, special project that takes sonic influences from overseas and packages them in a way that everyone can enjoy, Kites is a triumph with all kinds of replayability. Listen below.
