Migos caught some serious heat for their baffling comments on Makonnen's coming out last month, ultimately issuing a public apology. "We love all people, gay or straight, and we apologize if we offended anyone," the group said in a statement. In a new interview with Billboard, Quavo again addressed Makonnen's coming out.

"If you real from the heart, you real from the heart," Quavo toldBillboard's Chris Martins, who added that "it's clear" Quavo isn't outright homophobic. "That ain't got nothing to do with no sex or gender," Quavo said. "It's 2017, and we all living."

According to Martins, however, Quavo "still doesn't quite seem to get it." While speaking on Makonnen's coming out, Quavo made a point to mention Migos' recent collab with Frank Ocean:

"When [Makonnen’s] music came out I thought it was hard, so if he would’ve come out the same way..." He pauses. "I got a record with Frank Ocean ["Slide," a Calvin Harris track featuring Migos and Ocean]. That closes my case."

Quavo also shared his thoughts on the universality of Migos' music:

Going to Moscow was the same because I don’t know what color or race I am. I feel connected all the way around the world. When I hit that mic, I feel universal.

And his support of those actively protesting the Trump administration:

I feel like everybody's coming together to stop something wrong.

Elsewhere in the interview, the group—now estimated by Billboard to be bringing in up to $200,000 per show—discussed their cache of "probably a million" unreleased tracks and vowed to be at next year's Grammys. Read the full thing here.
