EBHONI has been on our radar for some time, blessing us with a steady string of solid releases over the last year which have garnered a few hundred thousand plays online. Now we're finally seeing an EP release from the talented 17 year old—who is still in her senior year of high school!—and Mood Ring further solidfies our belief that EBHONI is going to be a big star.
The eight tracks feature EBHONI's smooth R&B vocals against production that draws from future bass and electronic influences. In an era where many R&B artists favour heavy vocal effects, it's nice to hear her stellar voice take center stage on this project—as it should with a set of pipes like hers. The release of Mood Ring comes as EBHONI is gearing up for her next live performance which is due to go down this Sunday, April 2, at the Velvet Underground in Toronto. She'll be performing tracks from her new EP when she opens for soulful hip hop artist Dave B.
