After awarding runner-up positions to Nadia Rose, Rag'n'Bone Man, Jorja Smith and RAYE, the BBC have now awarded "My Hood" singer Ray BLK the winner of BBC Sound Of 2017. Elsewhere on the longlist, competition came from Anderson .Paak, Dave, AJ Tracey, Stefflon Don, and more. Past winners have included the likes of Adele, Sam Smith and Haim, so hopefully this will translate into similar levels of success for Ray BLK whose rousing R&B anthems struck a chord with so many last year.

"I'm genuinely amazed that I've won the BBC Music Sound Of 2017," Ray tells Complex. "It's such an honour to be among the incredible list of past winners, especially as an independent artist. I hope this inspires other artists hoping to break into the industry independently."
