On the one-year anniversary of the release of his debut album Broad Shoulders, Taylor Bennett is back with his new single "New York Nights." The track came together in NYC, far from Bennett's hometown of Chicago, thanks to the Treble app, which Bennett used to find musicians in the area to record with. He put together a short video in conjunction with Treble that gives some insight into the recording process of the single.

"It is the culmination of an independent up-and-coming star, an upstart music-tech company, and a diverse collection of artists coming together to create something amazing," he said in an email to Complex. "And most importantly, it is a testament to the power of creative collaboration."

"New York Nights" is the first single from Bennett's upcoming EP, which doesn't have a title or release date as of yet. Bennett is also looking to make a big splash with his first headlining show at Metro Chicago on Dec. 23. You can get tickets and more information about the show via the venue's website.

Bennett first got recognized last year with the release of his independent album Broad Shoulders. In particular, the title track—which features his older brother Chance the Rapper—was widely shared online. He's hoping to continue the momentum with his upcoming EP release and more shows in 2017.

While you wait for the whole project to drop, you can listen to Taylor Bennett's "New York Nights" below, and watch the single's making-of video above courtesy of Treble.
