Grime star Skepta has revealed the first details of his next major project.
After winning the Mercury Prize for Konnichiwa last month in a landmark moment from grime, the Tottenham MC is ready to push the genre to further heights by making a movie about the story of Boy Better Know.
In an interview with the Evening Standard, Skepta lifted the lid on a potential grime film for the first time:
"It's going to be about Boy Better Know but not in [a completely] autobiographical way..."
Skepta also wants to use his Mercury Prize money for community projects.
In a wide-ranging interview that also touched on his relationship with Adele and the future of Top Boy, Skepta revealed how he wants to put the £25,000 reward for winning the Mercury Prize as a force for good, funding community projects in his local area.
Skepta is already fronting the Levi's Music Project, an eight-week long campaign that has seen the MC act as a mentor to 12 young creatives from his local area, which culminated in a performance at the V&A earlier this month.
The world is most definitely Skepta's right now.
